Canonical officially announced the release of Ubuntu Linux 9.04 for desktop, servers and “Netbooks” . It is available in both x86 & x64 version.Incase you don’t have internet conenction you may request the free CD from here.
As you all know Ubuntu will be the official linux distribution we will be following in our journey of Linux.Let’s now see what’s changed from the previous versions
Ubuntu 9.04 includes the latest 2.6.28.8 kernel and many new features such as
- Ext4 file system support
- Gnome Desktop Environment 2.26
- OpenOffice 3.0
- Latest Skype
- Latest Adobe Flash
- Improved Compiz Fusion 3D
- Faster booting speed
- Brasero 2.26 (all-in-one CD burning application)
- Better (more intuitive) multi-monitor support
Few features that really seem to look out are
- Better Networking Interface
- New Bootsplash (thinner loading bar)
- Awesome looking logon screen
- New Themes (Wave, Dust & Dust Sands)
- New Notifications System
- Better Graphics Rendering
