OilRush Naval Strategy Game from Unigine

Unigne Corp – a russian software company famous for their GPU benchmarks, is developing a naval strategy game named OilRush based upon their Unigine Engine. OilRush is a cross-platform game and will be available for Linux, Mac and Windows.

The game features really advanced graphics and is available for pre-order here.

Benefit of pre-order is you get instant access the the game’s development releases.

To run the game “smoothly” at low settings, you need an nVidia 8600GT or ATi/AMD Radeon HD 2600 class video card.

Paint.net for Ubuntu aka Pinta 1.0

Pinta is a free, open source drawing/editing program modeled after Paint.NET. Its goal is to provide users with a simple yet powerful way to draw and manipulate images on Linux. The latest version of Pinta is 1.0 that was released a few days ago so we will be covering it right-away.

This post will cover the basic methods of installing Hardware Drivers in Ubuntu. We will try to make things as simple as possible. Cardapio – App Menu for Gnome

We have been working on Unity much lately, but we cant forget our favourite DE – Gnome. Speaking of Gnome, we would like to present you a cool application menu for your Ubuntu desktops – Cardapio. This app-menu is really light, cool, usable and makes things straight forward. Cardapio can work in two modes: as a panel applet (in which case it is an alternative to Gnome’s application menu applet) or as a stand-alone launcher (in which case it is an alternative to the simplest use-cases of Gnome Do, Synapse etc). It has a beautiful gtk-native interface and includes plugins for performing inline searches of Files (via Tracker), Software Center, Google, Wikipedia, and much more !

Ubuntu 11.04 Community & Default Wallpapers Revealed

Eyecandy lovers will love this yet again. The Ubuntu team has announced the Default and Community wallpapers of Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal today. The wallpapers chosen are really cool and you will surely love them.The default wallpaper is reportedly ‘Warty final’ with some modifications and the rest will be available in Ubuntu 11.04 Beta release. Shotwell 0.9 Released for Ubuntu

Shotwell is the Ubuntu’s default photo manager. It lets you import photos from disk or camera, organize them in various ways, view them in full-window or fullscreen mode, and export them to share with others. It can also publish photos on various websites such as PicasaWeb, Flickr, Facebook and more. The newest version is now Shotwell 0.9 which is available for upgrade via PPA.

Installation

Use this PPA to install Shotwell. The default Shotwell installed in Ubuntu 10.10 is 0.7.2. This PPA will also help you get 0.9 version instantly.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install shotwell

When done with it acess Shotwell from Graphics>Shotwell Photo Manager.
