Its just a two step process with installation of Adobe Air first and then the DestroyTwitter App

First download the Adobe Air Setup (It can be either .deb or .bin) and also download the DestroyTwitter App

Installing Adobe Air :

• For .deb just double click the downloaded file or open with GDebi (pretty simple isn’t it)
• For .bin file do the following
  1. Pop up The Terminal and browse to the directory where .bin file is present (Or just save it to the /home/user and just open the Terminal)
  2. Type chmod +x AdobeAIRInstaller.bin (You Can Also Do The Same Via Right Click>Properties>Permission and Check the Execute Option that allows program to be executed as Script)
  3. Then sudo ./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin (Enter Password If Required)

Since we’ve now installed Adobe Air ,installing Apps is just couple of clicks away

Extract the DestroyTwitter app from the zip file you just downloaded  & just double click your DestroyTwitter202.air file and there you go .

Note : Do try couple of more Apps Like TweetDeck, posty, twhirl, DeskTube (or just try a google search)

Personal Package Archive (PPA) service is provided for Ubuntu by Launchpad via which you can distribute software and updates directly to Ubuntu users. Create your source package, upload it and Launchpad will build binaries and then host them in your own apt repository.
Refer this link for more on how to create your own PPA to distribute software.

For Users (Like Us)

PPA (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas) can be easily used to add new sources for software not available in Software Centre.PPAs work like normal Ubuntu archives. You can install software in the usual way — for example, through apt-get or synaptic — and whenever there’s an update Ubuntu will prompt you to install it. Both the x86 & x64 architectures are supported by PPA.

Here is an example, to add the repository:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: user/ppa-name

So pop up your Terminal and try adding few of them from below

Open Office : sudo add-apt-repository  ppa:openoffice-pkgs/ppa

Google Chrome Browser Beta : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chromium-daily/beta

ClamAv Antivirus : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-clamav/ppa

1. Objective -Each player is deployed(spawns) once per round. As terrorist,  the main aim is to plant a bomb at a specified bombsite and prevent enemy from defusing it till it detonates or to kill all enemies , all this inside a specified timeline . Installation :-

First, you need to get Wolfenstein enemy Territory to your system before installing True Combat Elite .

Installing W:ET :- Refer our previous post For Installation

1. Download Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (W:ET) Full 2.60 with this command in a terminal (if it’s not already downloaded):

wget http://ftp.games.skynet.be/pub/wolfenstein/et-linux-2.60.x86.run

2. Installing the game : To install the game, run these commands step by step in the terminal  :-

sudo apt-get install libgtk1.2

chmod +x et-linux-2.60.x86.run

sudo ./et-linux-2.60.x86.run

Before going further and running the game, we apply the W:ET patch 2.6. Now, open a terminal and type the following :-

wget http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetwolfenstein/files/et-2.60b.zip  /*if not downloaded, then download */

unzip ET-2.60b.zip

cd /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/

sudo cp ~/Desktop/Enemy Territory 2.60b/linux/* /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/

(Note: Make sure you place the downloaded fie in /home/user directory after download)

Then , type the following in terminal to run the game to test if its working.

Installing TC:E

After installing W:ET  and testing, the next step is to download and install True Combat Elite.

Download the specified file.

For installing the game , open the terminal and change directory to the destination folder of the downloaded file. Then type

sudo ln -sf /bin/bash /bin/sh

sudo sh true.combat.elite_0.49b-english-4.run

to install the game. Follow the instructions and do accordingly .

Exit the installer and run the game .

The TC:E icon is present in “/usr/local/games/enemy-territory”. So you can also use it to run the game.

After that install the 0.49b patch . The patch is a tar.gz file. Just copy the files in the tar.gz file to /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/tcetest/. You need sudo to do this :

sudo cp ~/Desktop/tce049b_all_os_fixed/* /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/tcetest

and run the game by typing “tc-elite” in the terminal.

Known Issues

1)”VM_Create on UI failed “

Howto Fix :-

The libstdc++5  is missing. For Ubuntu 9.04 and lower, open terminal and type

sudo apt-get install lidstdc++5

Since there is no lidstdc++5 in Ubuntu 9.10 or higher, you need to install libstdc++6 and make a symbolic link to the library libstdc++5. To do that, open terminal and type

sudo apt-get install libstdc++6

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5

2) Server not starting :-

Try this :-

sudo apt-get install libx11-6 ia32-libs

and then try to run the server. It should work now.

3) Sound issues :-If you are not getting any sound in the game, then try the following fixes.

sudo apt-get install alsamixer

and then try to run the game.

or

sudo -s
echo “et.x86 0 0 direct” > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo “et.x86 0 0 disable” > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
exit

Exit all music players, web browsers etc. then try:

killall esd
et

If your sound works fine, then:

sudo -s
echo “echo “et.x86 0 0 direct” > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss” >> /etc/environment
echo “echo “et.x86 0 0 disable” > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss” >> /etc/environment
exit

This will save the setting.

Installing Geany

Geany is in Ubuntu repos and can be easily installed via Synaptic, Software Center, and obviously through terminal.

sudo apt-get install geany

The Interface

As it can be seen from the screen shot, Geany has a pretty basic interface and new users won’t really be lost as it is like any other text editor in terms of simplicity.

How it works

Geany works on the file extension principle. When you save a text file of a program code with an extension, Geany corresponds to the appropriate compiler and interpreter and thus serves multiple languages. For example for .c extension it corresponds to gcc, .py for Python, .rb for Ruby, .pl for Perl, etc.
It does not have the advanced features of IDEs like Eclipse or Code::Blocks, but it serves perfectly for learning programming.
Also note that it’s only an IDE and does not have the corresponding compiler or interpreter. For that you need to download and set that separately. For instance you can install C/C++ compiler by:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

Geany having a very simple interface can be easily used for practicing programming or creating basic programs. For instance, you can create a C program like this:

    return 0;
}

Now you have to save the file with a .c extension, and compile the code by going to Build->Compile or simply pressing F8. To link the code you have to go to Build->Build or press F9. If your program has been compiled and linked correctly, you can simply execute it as Build->Execute or pressing F5.

And in case of Python:

#!/usr/bin/env python
print "Hello, World!"
#

Now in case of Python you simply execute the code by pressing F5, since Python is an interpreted language. You can also “compile” which basically checks for few syntax errors.

Similarly Geany works in plenty of languages and saves a lot of time particularly for beginner programmers since they don’t really have to change to a particular directory and invoke compiler by terminal.

• Done with connecting to internet, now is the time to Download TeamViewer
• Run the deb package you downloaded and click “Install Package”
• Go To Applications -> Internet – >TeamViewer
  An ID and Password will be generated on the left automatically.
