Gnome Regeneration
We have been working on basic themes for a long time except the Karmic studio we just discussed . So i think its time to give a new look to our Gnome desktop. We have come across a project that is under development and provides full fledged themes that will surely make you say wOhhh!!

How-to Install :
You can take a look at the themes here : http://www.bisigi-project.org/?page_id=6&lang=en

Direct :-
You can directly download and install the themes using the tar.gz file from here and open it using synaptic package manager

You can also refer Launchpad.net for the download link: https://launchpad.net/bisigi-project

Installation via terminal :-

At first, open terminal by Applications > Accessories > terminal .

Step 1 – Add the key for the repository

Type the Following in Terminal:(for zero error, we prefer that you copy and paste it into your teminal)

Quote:gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:11371 --recv-key 881574DE && gpg -a --export 881574DE | sudo apt-key add -

if the server doesn’t respond, just wait a few minutes and try again.

Step 2 – Add the repository

Add those lines at the end of your sources.list (always in a terminal):

Quote:sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Add following lines and save :

##for karmic (9.10)
Quote:deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

##for jaunty (9.04)
Quote:deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bisigi/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Similarly for older versions Jaunty can be replaced by Hardy / Interpid etc.

Step 3 - Install Themes

Then open a terminal and type: (this command install all themes)
Quote:sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install bisigi-themes

Note : If in case you want to install only a selected ones then you must not follow the Third step and for selected install please type in the following :-

1)AquaDreams: sudo aptitude install aquadreams-theme
2)Ubuntu Sunrise: sudo aptitude install ubuntu-sunrise-theme
3)Bamboo-Zen: sudo aptitude install bamboo-zen-theme
4)Step into Freedom: sudo aptitude install step-into-freedom-theme
5)Tropical: sudo aptitude install tropical-theme
6)Exotic: sudo aptitude install exotic-theme
7)Balanzan: sudo aptitude install balanzan-theme
8)Wild Shine: sudo aptitude install wild-shine-theme
9)Infinity: sudo aptitude install infinity-theme
10)Showtime: sudo aptitude install showtime-theme
11)Orange: sudo aptitude install orange-theme
12)Ellanna: sudo aptitude install ellanna-theme

If you have done all of the above as directed , then its good to proceed. To apply the newly installed themes, just right click your desktop and select 'Change Desktop Background '. From there, change to themes you like.
