PlaOnLinux 3.8 is out with a lot of new features and bug-fixes. This will make gaming on linux via wine a bit better. With the release of wine 1.2 things have really improved.


Lets take a look at the Changes :-

A lot of new features
Some plugins are now integrated to our software, adding a lot of features :
- Capture will allow you to record your games
- Wine Import will permit you to add wine softwares into PlayOnLinux, and uses our features for it
- Cedega Import will let you import your cedega games
- Wine look will help you to change the color of your wine application to fit better with your desktop
- Advanced wine configuration will give you access to a lot of tweaks for wine
- Offline PlayOnLinux will allow you to run PlayOnLinux without internet access, by running locally a script serveur

A lot of bugs fixed
- Bug#22 fixed
- Ukranian file should be called uk.po instead ua.po
- PlayOnLinux can no longer run in it's own environement
- The program does not alert the user that 3D acceleration is not present when mesa-utils packet is not installed
- A bug fixed in libraries loading
- Bug fixed in Wine import plugin and Offline PlayOnLinux plugin
- Some cleaning.

Installation :-

For the Lucid version
Download and install the File via Gdebi installer



or
Open the terminal and type the following commands :

Quote:wget http://www.playonlinux.com/script_files/...ux_3.8.deb
sudo dpkg -i PlayOnLinux_3.8.deb

For the Karmic version

Type the following commands:

Quote:sudo wget http://deb.playonlinux.com/playonlinux_karmic.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/playonlinux.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install playonlinux

For the Jaunty version

Type the following commands:

Quote:sudo wget http://deb.playonlinux.com/playonlinux_jaunty.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/playonlinux.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install playonlinux

Usage :-
Goto MainMenu > Games > PlayOnLinux and enjoy installing wine based games and applications in Ubuntu in a few clicks and enjoy using them right away.
You can also download and install STEAM and can Run Steam Games on Ubuntu using POL like Counter Strike, Call of duty, Age of Empires etc. To see howto install Steam and play the best games out there see our previous Post
